Hello Fairway Golfers,

Many of you may remember Regina Harrington, who was a Fairway member before illness prevented her from participating further.  I am saddened to inform you that Regina passed on Saturday morning.  In light of the COVID environment, there will be a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can made to a scholarship in her memory.  Checks should be made out to Madden Women’s Association with “Regina Harrington Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.  Contributions should be mailed to Madden Women’s Association, c/o Jessica Chilton  912 Greenway Ct.  Miamisburg, Oh  45342.

Regina was an avid, passionate, and talented golfer and she will be greatly missed.

Linda

The article below has a wonderful write-up on Regina that I would like to share with you.

RANDOM GOLF FOOTNOTES FROM JOHN FISCHER
Sam_ByrdWe can all remember our high school days when some athletes lettered in more than one sport or in college where a few lettered in more than one sport. Pete Elliott of Michigan comes to mind, winning 12 varsity letters in three sports, football, basketball and golf. But you don’t see many individuals with the skill and ability to play more than one professional sport at the top level.

Georgia native, Sam Byrd, played for the New York Yankees in the World Series and became a professional golfer winning a host of tournaments and also played in the Masters multiple times.

A NOTE ON OUR YOUTH ON COURSE PROGRAM
YOC_Banner

One of our core beliefs at Miami Valley Golf is believing that every child deserves access to the life changing opportunities that our game can provide regardless of socioeconomic status.

With that in mind, in 2018, we teamed up with Youth on Course to bring this national program to our Miami Valley area.

Youth on Course members can play at participating courses for $5 or less during allotted times, after paying a small membership fee.

Our foundation (Miami Valley Golf Foundation) supports this program locally by supplementing the difference in green fees to the participating facility.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will need additional assistance as some of our opportunity for fund raising will not be available.  If possible, we encourage you to support this program.

An easy online contribution can be made here.

Thank you for your consideration!
